Wednesday 14 February (valentine's day, in which districts) at 21.30 the film cycle of the Catalan Center of Luxembourg will close. At the Utopia cinema we will attend the screening of the film heroes.
This film was directed by Pau Freixas and has great actors as protagonists: Eva Santolaria, Alex Brendemühl, Lluís Homar and Emma Suárez.
It is a kind story that evokes, from chance encounters along a road, the last childhood vacation of two characters, that could be examples of a generation. In fact, heroes it ends up being a trip to the past and an evocation of the innocence of summer holidays in the decade of 1980. Without forgetting some elements to induce us to reflect on the future.
This film deserved the audience award at the Malaga Film Festival.
If Gran Vázquez transported us to the sixties, Heroes did it in the eighties.
The movie Heroes makes us believe that the eighties were as much or happier than the sixties and who knows if as much or happier than the happy years of the twenties. In any case, you see things from the perspective of the 18th Film Cycle, and if we asked ourselves where the secret of happiness lies, the eternal question would lead to the eternal answer, that the times lived were better…
Heroes leaves us with the question of why we lose or should lose naivety. Because a bratty child spoiled by his family is a loser among his children's gang, while the carallot that has become an adult becomes a triumphant without any need to stop being a carallot.
All in all, a winning film where Pau Freixas won our hearts by working with tools as simple as the transparent childlike naivety and the nostalgia of the characters themselves, which the director makes us confuse with our own longing for lost times.
