21 January: opening of the exhibition "Cuba in Catalonia"

The Catalan Center of Luxembourg is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition "CUBA IN CATALONIA, THE LEGACY OF THE INDIANS” on Tuesday 21 in January 18.00 hours in the Jean Monnet building of the European Commission (Rue Wehrer; L-2920 Luxembourg). The presentation will be made by journalists Tate Cabré and Mireia Olivé, responsible for the research that made this exhibition possible.

The exhibition presents the Cuban heritage in Catalonia through the legacy of those named indians. Throughout the 19th century, many Catalans emigrated to Cuba in search of better fortune. Some of those who succeeded returned to their hometowns and reproduced the lifestyle of the Latin American country, colonial-style mansions were built, they financed charitable works or contributed to the urban development of their towns and cities.

The exhibition, which can be seen until 7 February, has the support of the European Commission, luxury, the Restaurant Chez Rafael, the Latin American Culture Club of Luxemburg, the Catalonia-Cuba Friendship Circle, Casanelles Chocolaters and the Network of Indian Municipalities.
