Friday 9 January we open our XXXIII Film Cycle with the film Wolfgang. It will be at Cinema Utopia at 18.30.
Directed by Javier Ruiz Caldera and based on the novel by Laia Aguilar, Wolfgang tells the story of a ten-year-old boy with an IQ of 152 and autism spectrum disorder. When his mother died, he is forced to live with his father, Carles, whom he had never seen. Carles faces the challenge with desire and will, but Wolfgang can't stand the disorder or disorganization in which he lives. Besides, he considers him an "underdog" due to his lack of intelligence. That's right, secretly, Wolfgang plans to achieve his dream: enter the academy of music Grimald in Paris, where his mother studied, and become the best pianist in the world. When Carles discovers it, he must decide between his big break as an actor or becoming the father a boy like Wolfgang needs.
The film has an outstanding cast led by Miki Esparbé and Jordi Catalán. They are accompanied by such well-known names as Àngels Gonyalons, Berto Romero and Nausicaa Bonnín. Released in March 2025, Wolfgang achieved excellent ticket sales figures, in addition to very positive reviews. She has been nominated for two Gaudí awards: best music and best movie.
