Description
A detective who is not a detective, a linguist who is not a linguist, a river, as the singer-songwriter would say, which is no longer a river… In Aigua bruta nothing is what it seems and everything reeks of sleaze. Or pollution. In Camil, which isn't really called Camil either, works collecting slang for the Academy of Catalan Studies, but he has a secret project: update the magne Etymological Dictionary of the philologist Joan Coromines. Astride his motorcycle, he travels through the villages moved by his vocation, word hunt, until chance suddenly plants him in front of the mystery: a dead hiker, a polluted river, a missing scientist, a non-transparent pharmaceutical company… At the pace of an involuntary but frantic investigation, Dirty Water takes the reader through what biologists call 'the water cycle': from the Pyrenees to the Llobregat delta, passing through aquifers, sources and discharges. A cycle full of culprits, including large public water supply companies, with the not-so-secret intention of denouncing the latest in environmental pollution: medical waste.
