Description
The scandal of Mort de Dama and the prestige of Bearn have hidden what is exceptional about the work of Llorenç Villalonga as a whole, as a literary universe in which each piece alters and enriches the great themes. In The heiress of Dona Obdúlia, the main melody is hinted at by the small letter: the temptations that threaten the maturity of two women who are opposites in everything except in the luscious eroticism. Villalonga confronts each of them with their particular Don Juan and observes the effects produced on the victims. A comedy? No, an ironic drama, in the purest Villalonga style.
