Description
Imbued with jazz everywhere, Take five is the first literary foray of an author who, following the rhythm of this piece by Dave Brubeck, has been able to create a solid and bold narrative framework. Barcelona is the stage where sex and death, life and the abyss, they mix incessantly, almost frantic. The fascination of three boys for a retired jazz musician and the obsessive thoughts of one of these young men about Laura are the foundations that build a meditation on hell, evil and naivety not accepted. A dangerous cadence, a risk assumed and who knows if, in the end, just a submission. «For me, everything that happened had a direct relationship with jazz, with its multiform essence. He lived this explosion of recent facts and confessions like someone who listens to a be-bop track and loses himself in its chaotic nature—apparently discordant and haphazard—but is aware that its evolution maintains an inevitable plot unity, and what, no matter how distant the soloist digression of the moment, it always ends up returning to the basic idea, at the heart of the issue at hand."
