Translation by Carmen Gauger Returning to an idea by Maxim Gorki, the Moscow newspaper Iswestija called in 1960 to writers from all over the world to describe, as accurately as possible, he 27 September of that year. Excited about the idea, Christa Wolf quickly got to work. And from then on he did not stop working on that initially circumstantial project.: each 27 September recorded the facts, reflections and hopes that on that date attracted his attention. Thus was born a work unprecedented in world literature.: a kind of time travel in which, taking as reference a single day of the year, The German writer reveals to us the small servitudes of her daily life, but also social events, political and literary events that have marked the last four decades. From his annotations we know the course of history in the former German Democratic Republic and in reunified Germany., as well as the events that captured public interest at all times; but we also contemplate the course of a life in which, year after year, one of the most notable contemporary writers is gaining importance.
