For the first time, the Catalan Center of Luxembourg is planning a concert by a northern Catalan singer. In this case, it's about the singer-songwriter Peter Figueres (bridge, 1950). It is one of the recoverers of the song in Catalan north of the Pyrenees.
Known for the quality of his music, the strength of the texts and the intimacy of the environments it creates, has distinguished himself by setting music to outstanding poets of Catalan expression (especially Jordi Pere Cerdà). Influenced by Raimon and Ovidi Montllor, but also by Jacques Brel and Georges Brassens, Figueres has published five albums in Catalan. He has performed on stages all over Europe, per example, at the festival of French culture in Saarguemines or at the French Institute in Frankfurt during the book fair of the year 2007.
The Figueres concert, accompanied by three musicians and a complete repertoire of traditional and own songs, will take place Saturday 15 of November at eight in the evening in the Robert Krieps room of the abbey of Neumünster.
The ticket price is 15 euros (10 euros for members).
This is the first of two activities related to Northern Catalonia that the CCL presents this autumn. A conference by the first deputy mayor of Perpignan will follow, Mr. Jaume Roure, the day 26 of November in collaboration with the Center Culturel Français.
