The last screening of the XVI Film Series of the Catalan Center is The silence before Bach, of Pere Portabella. Will, as in previous sessions, Monday 9 February, at two-quarters of ten in the evening at the Cinema Utopia in Luxembourg City.
This movie, with script by Pere Portabella, Carles Santos and Xavier Albertí, is dedicated to music and trades related to this art. This filmed tribute is structured around the figure of Johan Sebastian Bach (and also others such as Felix Mendelssohn and Györg Ligeti). It offers a look at the deep ties between image and music, much more than an accompanying element unrelated to the story.
The well-known filmmaker Pere Portabella is perhaps the Catalan director who arouses the most interest among cinephiles around the world. His work, strongly avant-garde, it forms a very personal universe and has exerted great influence on creators of all kinds. The silence before Bach, his last tape, was part of the official selection of the Venice Exhibition of 2007.
