The Catalans from abroad

To end the year, a news about the contribution of Catalans from abroad to the economy of Catalonia (font: International Federation of Catalan Entities) which we wanted to spread in detail:

Catalans abroad continue to contribute more than 500 million euros per year to the Catalan economy

According to data published by the Bank of Spain, the month of July 2009, and collected by the International Federation of Catalan Entities (FIEC), the position in terms of “remittances of emigrants” in the balance of payments and Spanish international investment position has not stopped increasing since the year 2002. specifically, the Spanish population living abroad transferred to Spain 5.339 million euros a year 2008 (of which an estimate of 505,6 million euros go to Catalans living abroad). On the other band, the foreign population resident in Spain transferred to their countries of origin a total of 7.840 million euros a year 2008 (among which, an estimate of 1.642,5 million euros go to immigrants living in Catalonia).
