Of 18 to the 20 of March will be held the 28th edition of Migration Festival and the 11th of the Book Fair in the LuxExpo rooms, to the Kirchberg neighborhood, Luxembourg City. The Catalan Center will be doubly present, as usual.
You can find us at two stops: the first will be located in the Migration Festival area and will offer tourist information about Catalonia and something to eat or drink, because the festival requires a lot of energy. The second stop is, in fact, a section of the traditional “Literature stand” at the Book Fair. You can find the latest news there, books by Catalan authors translated into other languages and some books you must have if you want to affirm (sense lie) that yours is a good library.
In fact, The main dish of the Catalan Center at this festival is presented in the framework of the Book Fair. talk about “strong dish” it is not a made-up sentence: will be served by a cook. It is about Pius Alibek, than, obviously, he's not just any cook. He was born in Ankawa, in Iraqi Kurdistan, in the bosom of a Christian family. He left the country on 1981 and, since then, lives in Catalonia. He is a writer, professor, linguist, researcher i, com yes him this, cook (and owner of the Mesopotamia restaurant, Barcelona). His first book, nomadic roots, it has been a great success in Catalonia and has received all kinds of praise. After some editions in Catalan, the Spanish version has just been published and, in the summer, the German one will see the light. You will have the opportunity to listen to Pius Alibek, or even to talk to him and ask him for a signature, Saturday 19 at two in the afternoon. For this activity, we have had the collaboration of the CLAE and the Antonio Machado Spanish Cultural Circle.
The same Saturday, at five in the afternoon, Máxim Serranos and Soler, Catalan resident in Luxembourg, will read fragments of the French translation of one of his stories. It will be a taste of a book that will be published in May under the Luxembourgish label ultimomondo.
If you want to give us a hand and spend some time at a stand serving the public, we will thank you deeply and you can be proud to have contributed to make a brighter festival. You can write to us at’usual address or contact a board member you know personally.
