Crossing seas and mountains, crossing borders bristling with bayonets, spied on by rabid dogs, eager to tear their flesh with their fangs, arrived in Spain to fight and die for freedom threatened by fascism.
The Catalan Center of Luxembourg, greeting the Friends of the International Brigades in the fifteenth year of its foundation, wants to join all those who, worldwide, still remember the words spoken independently 1938 :
“When the years pass and the wounds of war begin to heal ; when the memory of painful and bloody days fades into a present of freedom, of peace and well-being… Talk to your children, tell them about these men from the International Brigades. »
Carried by their faith, their commitment, and very high ideals, the Luxembourg brigadists went to Catalonia to start this fight. And since many of them remained there and they are still resting there. And since the first words they heard from their comrades who, like them, dreamed of changing the world were in Catalan, we want to pay tribute to them with the same words that they have heard and certainly shouted a thousand times : Long live Freedom !
