TERMCAT is an organization created in Barcelona in 1985 by the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia and the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC) with the purpose of studying Catalan terminology. Its lines of action are the development of terminological resources, the standardization of neologisms and terminological advice. Therefore, TERMCAT prepares and promotes the preparation of dictionaries, vocabularies, lexicons and multilingual dissemination material from different fields of knowledge in various formats, establishes the denomination of the new terms and advises institutions, companies and individuals for the preparation, translation or editing of terminological and specialized works.
We take advantage of the travel to Luxembourg of one of its managers, to give a conference at the DGT (General Directorate of Translation) of the European Commission, so that everyone in Luxembourg has the opportunity to learn about the work of this organization in favor of the Catalan language and its integration into the multilingual work frameworks of the European Union.
