«The new emigration from Spain: a new reality. Figures, challenges and opportunities»
Two years ago we held a round table in Luxembourg with the same title in which the Hispanic associative world in Luxembourg asked questions and sought answers to what at that time was already an incipient reality.. Today the arrival of new emigration to Luxembourg has become a phenomenon of great importance. The latest figures from the Residential Variations Statistics (EVR) of the INE report 56.392 departures in 2012, which increases the number of people of Spanish nationality who have left Spain since the beginning of the crisis (in 2008) to more than 250.000, figures that show that the phenomenon already has very significant proportions.
We invite you, well, to participate in this open round table that will be held on Tuesday 8 October 2013 to 19.15 hours in the premises of the Catalan Center in Luxembourg (88, Rue de la Semois; Luxembourg Ville).
They will intervene:
- Iago Losada (Head of Consular Affairs at the Spanish Embassy in Luxembourg)
- Antoni Montserrat (Catalan Luxembourg Centre)
- Pablo Sanchez (President of the FAEL, Federation of Associations of Spaniards of Luxembourg)
- Angela Sabater (Solidarity Without Borders – Luxembourg)
- Jose Ortiz (President of the Popular Association of Luxembourg)
- and some protagonists of this new emigration.
Round table in Spanish (with French interpretation).
We want to give different points of view. Are we facing a new emigration? In the face of a brain drain caused by the global economy that has no significant scope? In the face of a failure of labor market policies in Spain? Or all at once? In a second part we will talk about how the different associations and administrations face this new reality in Luxembourg and what practical and political solutions they see..
Free entry.
