We remind you of the need to register in the electoral registers abroad if you wish to vote in the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia on 27 September.

If you want to exercise your vote, com a residents exteriors, in the call for the Elections to the Parliament of Catalonia, we remind you that, if you are not registered in the Consular Registration Register (RMC) from the Spanish Embassy you can only vote if you travel to Catalonia.

Those of you who are not yet registered in the Consular Registration Register (RMC) in order to exercise your vote from abroad you have two options:

  • Register as permanent residents in the RMC at the Spanish Embassy and you will automatically be registered in the CERA (Electoral Register of Absent Residents) and you will be able to participate in all electoral processes in Spain (except for municipal elections where foreign residents do not have the right to vote). Please note that for voting purposes the CERA that is used is the one closed two months before the election is called. That is to say that if President Mas signs the Decree calling for elections at the beginning of August, only those who have registered until June 1st will be able to vote as permanent residents 2015.
  • You can also opt out, if you consider that your residence in Luxembourg will be of short duration, to enroll in ERTA (Spaniards Temporarily Absent Residents) which is valid for one year. You must also go through the Embassy and register at the RMC and you can register as temporary at the ERTA during 25 days after the election call.
