Wednesday 10 June: conference on rare diseases

Wednesday 10 June we invite you to a scientific conference, Spanish, titled "The Rare Diseases, a challenge to public health in Spain and Europe "that Dr oferirà. Manuel Posada de la Paz, Director of Research Institute l'Rare Diseases which is part of l'Instituto de Salud Carlos III. Rare diseases are diseases with a particularly low prevalence: EU considers that a disease is rare when it affects more than 5 people each 10.000 on the European Union. With all, this means that between 5.000 and 8.000 different rare diseases affect or will affect sometime around 29 million people in the EU.

How faced this difficult public health problem in Spain? What real impact it has on our society? How should coordinate the efforts of different health systems in Europe to treat patients? In what resources are available?

Taking advantage of Luxembourg is the headquarters of the European Commission unit dealing with rare diseases in the city and the meeting of the group of European experts on rare diseases, We wanted to invite Dr.. Manuel Posada de la Paz, that of 2010 is director of the Research Institute for Rare Diseases in Madrid and one of the most important figures in Spain and Europe in this field.
