Post office box 1001 – "The essence of Catalan cinema '

Thursday 19 May continues the cycle that the Filmoteca de Catalunya and the Cinémathèque de Luxemburg dedicate to the basic works of Catalan cinema. On this occasion, a typically Barcelonan "film noir" is screened: Post office box 1001 (1950).

Directed by Julio Salvador and starring Conrado San Martín, Elena Mirror and Tomás Blanco, this film places a police story in post-war Barcelona. Being filmed in natural settings, the city is perfectly recognizable and the ribbon, almost a documentary. Despite being a work of genre, it subverts some of its conventions while balancing what the censorship of the time allowed.

The screening will be at 20.30.
