Continuing the series devoted to the basic works of Catalan cinema, in collaboration with the Filmoteca de Catalunya, Cinematheque Luxemburg presenta, Thursday 26 in May 20.30, an extraordinary film: Los Tarantos. Directed on 1964 by Francesc Rovira Beleta, the piece has become a cult film thanks to its intrinsic quality, to the portentous performance (the last one) of the great dancer Carmen Amaya and some of the first steps of a very young Antonio Gades. You will also be able to see a Barcelona that is difficult to recognize, diferent, magic, with a background of tragedy and flamenco.
The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Unfortunately he had to compete with Half past eight by Fellini, who ended up taking home the award.
