Thursday 15 September, at 19 hours, we invite you to a conference about a very Catalan institution: the Athenians. Pep Morella will talk about it at the venue, president of the Federation of Universities of Catalonia. Specifically,, the title of the conference will be "Associationism and Athenaeums of the 21st century" and it will focus on the case of the Ateneu Barcelonès (what's up this year 150 years).
In the 19th century, Athenaeums proliferated throughout Catalonia, organizations promoting culture and improving society. The model was imported from France and England, but it immediately took root among us and adapted itself to the characteristics of the country. The Athenaeums have reached our times and have federated to continue working on improving the quality of life.
