Wednesday 15 October, at 19 hours, the venue hosts the talk "The challenges of education" by Antoni Vera Alemany, counselor d’Education and Universities of the Balearic Islands.
We've been talking a lot lately, all over Europe, of the problems of the educational system. Doubts are raised about the model and about more technical issues, such as the presence of screens in the classroom and the use of new technologies. On the other band, there is also considerable debate about the results of education, especially in response to the PISA reports.
Antoni Vera Alemany will talk to us about these and other issues, Minister of Education and Universities of the Balearic Government. He knows the topic of the talk well because, in addition to seeing it from the institutional side, he has practical experience as a teacher. He wanted to take the opportunity to be in Luxembourg on an institutional visit to share a moment with the Catalan-speaking community of the Grand Duchy and surrounding areas. But we will not only talk about teaching: Vera Alemany is an expert on many other issues that we will be able to discuss with him during the debate after the talk.
Antoni Vera Alemany has a degree in Catalan Philology. Before accessing the ministry, had been director of l’Institute of Balearic Studies (with whom the CCL has collaborated on occasion). Previously he had also been director of Education and Culture of the Balearic administration. En paral lel, he was a secondary school teacher until 2023.
