Catalan Luxembourg Center invites you on Sunday 29 May the spring excursion through the forest of Mersch (“Mersch forest”) near the beautiful town of the same name. They 9,7 kms affordable for everyone, large and small, with normal physical condition. The route passes through the park communal Mersch and goes through the woods in the middle of the rock formations “Mamer jointly” where you'll find a multitude of caves and caverns that will delight children. There, turn off the road to visit more caves (some have restricted access for having breeding colonies of bats) up to the greatest of all, day “Houllay”, where prehistoric remains found (no paintings, Yet ). Through the forest, a pair of beautiful views of the valley of Eischen, and down the other side, going to stop the birth of the stream called” Hunnebur”. From there we will Mersch passing the monument of Independence. A Mersch, There is the opportunity to visit some (modest) Roman ruins.
Along the way we will see some wild animals as heads-verts, coots and water frogs croaking in the pond park Mamer, and domestic (cows, goats, donkeys and a huge).
The trip can be done in shoes, if it has rained. otherwise, better wear boots to avoid getting wet and slippery. It is recommended to bring flashlights for the children who can “to explore” caves.
Everyone will pay for food. It is possible to eat at the campsite “Krounebierg” (if you get there before the two) we find at the entrance of Mersch, the end of the excursion. Those who have enthusiasm and energy can be approached again the communal park where games and plenty of space for children and a bar where you can eat anything at any time.
