Thursday 9 February, at 19.00 hours, the local Catalan Center (88, Rue de la Semois; Luxembourg ville) welcomes a good friend: Rolf Tarrach. Physical, prestigious scientist, professor and university rector, he will present his latest book to us: Pleased to decide.
The subtitle is even more enlightening: “An introduction to scientific reasoning for NON-scientists”. With this book, the author confesses that he wants to provide elements that allow us to move from fear to decision to the pleasure of doing so, from the threat of having to decide to the opportunity to be able to do so. The key to achieving this is knowledge.
Rolf Tarrach, Rector of the University of Luxembourg 2005-2015, is president of the European Association of Universities. Among other professional merits, has been Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Universities of Valencia and Barcelona, where he has held numerous academic positions; worked at several universities (of Houston in Sant Petersburg) and has been advisory regarding scientific Generalitat of Catalonia and the Congress. It is also member of the Science and Technology Section of the IEC.
