“Diamond Square” – “Most of Catalan cinema”

Continuing the series devoted to the basic works of Catalan cinema, in collaboration with the Filmoteca de Catalunya, Cinematheque Luxemburg presenta, Thursday 9 in June 18.30, one of the main Catalan films.

Diamond Square (1982)

Adaptation of the homonymous novel by Rodoreda in which the daily life of the neighborhood of Gràcia is described between 1928 and the years 50.

All this, through the gaze and inner experience of a girl, the Dove, converted, of the mother of Mercè Rodoreda, in one of the most popular characters in Catalan literature. An important effort in the early days of Catalan cinema's recovery and the first approach to Betriu's historical cinema (Requiem for a Spanish peasant).
